Hello, I’m Charlene Christie, founder of Total Package Event Planning & Hire service. With over 20years of experience as an Event Planner, I lead a talented family team dedicated to turning your visions into unforgettable experiences. Our team includes my mother Jennifer, who excels at transforming plain rooms into masterpieces, my daughter Taylor-Rae, a professional DJ (since the tender age of 13) and Selfie Pod business owner of 2 years, Sister-In-Law Charlene P, our skilled balloon artist and last but not least, our wonderful Dani who is my assistant.

My journey

1997

My Journey into Event Planning

At the tender age of 15, I embarked on my first venture into event planning by organising my own birthday party at a nightclub in Hackney. From booking the venue and DJs to designing a captivating flyer, I was determined to create an unforgettable experience. This early success fueled my passion for event planning, and I soon found myself staging my own club nights in both the West End and North London on a weekly and monthly basis.
Building on this momentum, I ventured into artist management, working with a DJ who quickly became “booked and busy.” This success was largely due to a unique marketing concept I developed, which involved strategically placing large posters throughout London to capture attention and generate buzz. This innovative approach not only propelled the DJ’s career but also solidified my reputation as a creative and effective event planner and manager.

2006

My pride and joy

I’m proud to introduce my incredible daughter, Taylor-Rae, whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. As a devoted mother, I single-handedly supported her through private education, where she excelled academically, passing her GCSEs at the remarkable age of 14 with all A, A*, and Distinctions. Balancing her academic pursuits, Taylor-Rae immersed herself in the performing arts and became a competitive street dancer. At just 13, she embarked on a professional DJ career, hosting her own radio show on a community station. Her talent and dedication have taken her to stages across the globe, including the renowned O Beach Ibiza shortly after her 16th birthday, and she has also performed in Ghana. Her skills have been showcased on major radio stations such as BBC London, BBC 1Xtra, and Capital Xtra, among others. In addition to her DJ career, Taylor-Rae has successfully run her own Selfie Booth business for the past three years. Now at 18, she continues to amaze with her accomplishments and drive. Taylor-Rae is a true testament to what passion and hard work can achieve at such a young age.

2025

Fifteen years ago,

I made a life-changing decision to leave my job in the City to become a childminder. This choice was inspired by my daughter’s heartfelt words: “Mum, it’s not fair that everyone else’s mums take them to and pick them up from school.” Balancing the demands of childcare with my passion for event planning, I continued to organise events for friends, family, and even new clients through recommendations.

Before the pandemic, I had the privilege of working with a corporate client, organising their summer and Christmas staff gatherings for two consecutive years. My journey as a single mother, caring for over 100 children, and managing my daughter’s burgeoning DJ career has been fulfilling, yet I realised it was time to focus on what I truly love—Event Planning.

As 2024 drew to a close, I declared 2025 to be MY year. A year to fully commit to my passion for Event Planning, making Total Package my priority and transforming it into a full-time successful business, just as I did with my childcare venture.

I’m thrilled to share that this year alone, with it now being March 2025, I have already booked five incredible events, ranging from a Book & Business launch to a 65th Birthday party. I’m also excited to announce that I have secured a wedding for next year and a 60th Birthday celebration to plan.
